Zakat Calculator
Calculate the zakat due on your cash, gold, silver, investments and business assets at 2.5%, using the current nisab value.
About the Zakat Calculator
Zakat is an annual obligation of 2.5% on wealth that has been held for one lunar year and is above the nisab threshold. This zakat calculator adds up your zakatable assets, subtracts debts that are due and tells you how much zakat to pay.
How to Use the Zakat Calculator
- Enter the value of your cash, gold, silver, investments, business goods and money owed to you.
- Enter debts that are due now, and today’s nisab value in your currency.
- Press Calculate to see your net wealth and the zakat due.
Formula and How It Works
Zakatable wealth = total assets − immediate debts. If this amount is equal to or above the nisab, zakat = zakatable wealth × 2.5%. The silver nisab (612.36 g) is lower and is preferred by many scholars because it helps more people in need.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is zakat due on my house or car?
No. Personal items such as your home, car, furniture and clothes are not zakatable, unless they are held for sale.
Where can I find the nisab value?
Check today’s gold or silver price per gram from a local jeweller or bank and multiply it by 87.48 g (gold) or 612.36 g (silver). For personal rulings, consult a qualified scholar.
